The opening moments of "Thursday", the first track of Kieskagato's new EP simply titled EP, will almost certainly guarantee comparisons to Radiohead's Kid A. Forty-five seconds into the song, however, Kieskagato distinguishes itself from any other band. A rich bass sound enters the picture along with accentual trumpet segments as Josh Vasby's dreamlike voice is joined by others creating complex vocal harmonies.

Kieskagato is what Radiohead would sound like if they had gone jazz rather than electronic. Instead of a Chaos Pad, the band has opted for trumpets with all members of the band except drummer/percussionist Bryan Fairfield sharing trumpeting responsibilities. The majority of moments on the EP consist of very open and light arrangements that complement Vasby's vocal style and David Jorgensen's organ playing rather well.

"Dirty House", which in many ways may be the most pop-oriented of any of the tracks, demonstrates that the band is rather capable of expanding beyond lighter, more ambient sounds. The song's closing passage features sharp trumpet crescendos combatting with distorted guitar segments that can cut like a knife. These aggressive moments are present in smaller portions on other tracks like "See You at the Meeting" and "Well Then, Alright". It may seem that such juxtapositions would lead to a rather jarring listen, but as with the entire album, such transitions are expertly composed and seem to flow effortlessly. If you're looking for something more fulfilling to listen to, this may be the album for you.
